Why I Started Sweet Hickory
Sweet Hickory Garden Co. was not born from a business plan. It was born from a backyard. I watched my own children begin eating vegetables straight from the family garden — things they had never touched before — and I understood something important: kids eat what they grow. The nutrition is better, the flavors are incomparable, and there is something about picking food with your own hands that changes the way a person thinks about eating.
But it was not just about the food. Being outside, working with soil, breathing fresh air — I noticed what it did for my family's mood, our connection to each other, and our sense of wonder at the world around us. There is healing in a garden that goes far beyond what ends up on the dinner table.
When friends and neighbors began asking for help, the questions were always the same: "Where do I even start? What do I plant? How do I keep it alive when I'm already so busy?" Sweet Hickory Garden Co. is the answer to every one of those questions.
